Smith Mordak, Chief Executive, UKGBC: A prolific thought leader driving UKGBC towards net zero amidst a pivotal period for the UK's sustainability goals.

Smith is a committed and passionate advocate for building a future economy where people, society, and ecology can flourish. By combining their deep science-based understanding of the climate emergency with a principled approach to transforming our built environment, they are able to lead UKGBC through a critical period in order to put the UK back on track to the net zero goal. Smith’s distinguished career includes leadership roles in architecture and engineering firms Buro Happold, Webb Yates Engineers, and Studio Weave, as well as authorship of several high-impact initiatives and reports. They were the lead author of ‘Built for the Environment’ a report to COP26 commissioned by the RIBA and Architects Declare and endorsed by over 300 built environment organisations from around the world. Smith has also held a wide range of industry positions from which they have campaigned for a just transition to a more sustainable future, including as Board Member for the Journal of City Climate Policy and Economy and The Architecture Foundation, and as a nationally elected Councillor at RIBA

Simon Henzell-Thomas, Global Director Climate and Nature, Ingka Group (IKEA): A sustainability expert instrumental in maintaining Ingka Group's leadership in climate and nature action.

Simon has over nearly 20 years of experience working with and for global blue-chip retailers in a number of senior leadership roles. Currently, Simon is the Global Director of Climate and Nature for Ingka Group, operating IKEA Retail in over 30 countries. Previously to his current role, Simon was an integral part of the IKEA sustainability function in Sweden where he led human rights strategy development and partnership-building. Simon has a number of year’s experience as a non-Executive Director and Board member. He is currently on the Board of the UN Global Compact, Netherlands as well as UNFOLD (an association of Corporate Affairs leaders positively shaping the role of business in the world). Additionally, Simon has been a judge for the Cannes Award for Creativity in the Sustainable Development Goals category and was included in the Forbes list of “43 People Changing Advertising For Climate”.

Sarah Ratcliffe, Chief Executive, BBP: An innovative and dynamic leader whose expertise has revolutionized the trajectory of the company.

Sarah is the CEO of the Better Buildings Partnership, a collaboration of the UK’s leading commercial property owners who aim to deliver market transformation through sustainability leadership and knowledge sharing across the property industry. The BBP has 56 members with combined Assets Under Management (AUM) of +£340bn. Sarah spearheaded the market transformational BBP Climate Commitment and leads the BBP’s ground-breaking work programme including the Real Estate Environmental Benchmark, Design for Performance Initiative, ESG Training Programme for Asset Managers and the Owner and Occupier Forum. Sarah is also Chair of the Green Property Alliance, Board Director of the Sustainable Development Foundation, and an advisor to Property Market Analysis. Sarah contributes to numerous industry steering groups and committees including the Investment Property Forum, ESG Special Interest Group and the Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard.
