Bridgewater Associates' latest report delves into the critical climate technologies necessary for achieving net zero goals and assesses their current technological and commercial maturity. Approximately 40-50% of global emissions reductions required for net zero can be achieved through scaling up mature technologies like solar, wind, and electric vehicles. However, significant financing gaps exist, with an estimated $3-5 trillion annually needed to scale these technologies, particularly in emerging markets. The report highlights the need for further innovation and investment in emerging technologies like green hydrogen and direct air capture to address the remaining emissions. High-emitting sectors, comprising 30% of global public equity market capitalization, are crucial in the transition to a low-carbon economy, with substantial impacts expected on corporate capex and global capital flows.
