NEW YORK, July 29, 2026 — CREtech, the world’s leading community of professionals devoted to technological and sustainable innovation in the built world, today announced the opening session for CREtech New York 2026, taking place October 20–21 at the Javits Center in New York City.

Sponsored by McKinsey & Company, the morning will begin at 9:00 a.m. with opening remarks from Vaibhav Gujral, Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, followed by the opening session, “The Institutional Outlook: How Real Estate’s Most Powerful Firms Are Positioning for What’s Next,” from 9:05–9:45 a.m.

Moderated by Gujral, the session will bring together executive leadership from BGO, Brookfield, Prologis, Kimco Realty and AvalonBay Communities for a first-hand look at the strategies guiding some of the world’s largest and most influential real estate portfolios.

Featured speakers include:

  • Amy Price, Co-President, BGO
  • Ben Brown, Co-President and Head of the Americas, Real Estate, Brookfield
  • Carter Andrus, Chief Operating Officer, Prologis
  • Ross Cooper, President and Chief Investment Officer, Kimco Realty
  • Pamela Thomas, Executive Vice President, Portfolio and Asset Management, AvalonBay Communities
  • Vaibhav Gujral, Senior Partner, McKinsey & Company and Session Moderator

Together, the participating firms represent hundreds of billions of dollars in assets across logistics, retail, multifamily, data centers, office and other major property sectors.

The session will move beyond broad market predictions to examine the decisions institutional owners, investors and operators are making in today’s commercial real estate environment. Panelists will discuss where capital is being deployed, how underwriting strategies are evolving, which asset classes are gaining or losing momentum and how leading firms are optimizing the performance of their existing portfolios.

Topics will include:

  • Where major institutional firms are deploying capital and the factors driving those decisions
  • Which property sectors are attracting increased investment and where contrarian opportunities may be emerging
  • How leading firms are adjusting their strategies in response to changing market conditions
  • The economic and operational signals institutions are monitoring before committing new capital
  • How owners and operators are creating additional value from assets already within their portfolios

The opening session reflects the central theme of CREtech New York 2026, “Commercial Real Estate in the Age of AI,” and the event’s focus on the strategies, technologies and investment decisions reshaping the built world.

CREtech New York will convene more than 3,000 real estate and technology professionals for two days of executive-level programming, business development, technology demonstrations and structured networking. Attendees will include owners, developers, investors, occupiers, brokers, technology providers and other senior decision-makers from across the global real estate industry.

In addition to its keynote programming, the event will feature CREtech Meetup, peer-led TableTalks, the Women in CREtech initiative, an expansive technology exhibition and dedicated opportunities for attendees to connect with the people and companies most relevant to their business objectives.
