New York (May 10, 2022) — CREtech, the largest international community of professionals devoted to technological innovation in the real estate sector, hosted its first ever in-person CREtech Climate Global Leadership Summit in Copenhagen on May 17-19. The Summit assembled the world’s leading sustainability professionals to take real steps towards decarbonizing the real estate industry.

Attendees of the CREtech Climate Global Leadership Summit had front row seats to high-level presentations from the biggest names in climate technology, focused collaborative sessions and a group excursion to CopenHill, a waste-to-energy plant, embodying the notion of hedonistic sustainability while aligning with Copenhagen’s goal of becoming the world’s first carbon-neutral city by 2025.

Expert keynote speakers sharing unique insights on decarbonizing the built world included world-renowned architect, Bjarke Ingels, Founder, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), Parag Khanna, Founder and Managing Partner of FutureMap, Roxana Isaiu, Chief Product Officer at GRESB, Kåre Stokholm Poulsgaard, Partner, Head of Innovation at 3XN Architects and GXN Innovation, Jakob Lange, Partner at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), Juliette Morgan, ESG Consultancy Director at Gensler, Torben Möger Pedersen, CEO of PensionDanmark and Mikkel Bülow-Lehnsby, Co-founder and Chairman at NREP/ 2150. For each attendee, Growing Trees Network Foundation planted a tree in two climate forests in Christiansfeld and Nyrup; the forests are granted status as permanent and contribute to reduction of the company’s CO2 emissions, planting tree species that bind extra CO2, more nature and new recreational areas and increased biodiversity and new habitats for animals.

CREtech’s next step of its climate journey will be propelled by producing a documentary from the event featuring the Voices, Places & Faces of Decarbonization. The documentary will exclusively premiere at CREtech’s flagship conference, CREtech New York, this October 12-13 with over 1,500 real estate tech professionals from around the world expected to attend. The upcoming conference will also feature climate sessions on the Main Stage and an all-new dedicated climate pavilion.
