Save A Lot is piloting a fully automated grocery delivery center in Brooklyn, N.Y., in partnership with tech company Fabric. This micro-fulfillment center uses robotic arms to handle grocery items, which are packed and sent for delivery within minutes. The center aims to cut grocery bills by nearly 30%, providing a cost-effective alternative to traditional stores. With a smaller real estate footprint, the facility offers limited but affordable selections, which are delivered through Uber within 30 minutes to customers in an 8-mile radius. As automation increases efficiency, it also raises concerns about job reductions in the grocery sector.
