New York, NY (October 23, 2024) — CREtech, the premier global platform dedicated to innovation in the real estate industry, is excited to announce the launch of its newest podcast series, CEO Stories. Hosted by CREtech’s Head of Content, Emily Wright, CEO Stories will deliver candid conversations with the leading minds in global real estate, providing listeners with valuable insights on leadership, strategy, and industry transformation. EY is the Exclusive Sponsor of CEO Stories.
The debut episode features Scott Rechler, CEO of RXR who discusses his approach to driving innovation and adapting to a dynamic market landscape, reveals how he overcomes challenges and fears head-on, and lifts the lid on his daily rituals and routines.
Launching alongside Rechler’s CEO Story episode is an interview with Mark Grinis, Global Client Service Partner at EY, who brings over three decades of expertise advising industry leaders. This episode delves into Mark's perspectives on navigating an evolving market, embracing technological advancements, and fostering strategic relationships. Mark’s insights serve as a guiding light for real estate professionals facing today’s complex challenges. “A great leader knows when to wipe the whiteboard clean and reexamine the facts on the ground,” he says, emphasizing the importance of agility in leadership.
Each CEO Story will spotlight a different industry leader, uncovering the personal experiences and strategies that have defined their careers.
Following the launch episode, the podcast will continue with monthly releases. Up next we will be joined by Elizabeth Brink, Co-CEO of Global Design Practice, Gensler. CEO Stories is more than a podcast; it’s a journey into the minds of the visionaries shaping the future of real estate. It aims to inspire professionals across the industry by sharing first hand stories of success, adaptation, and forward-thinking strategies.
Highlights from Scott Rechler’s CEO Story Episode:
- On tackling the fear and anxiety that comes with a position of great responsibility: "If you have anxiety, run towards it,” says Rechler on how he deals with the challenges of running a multi-billion dollar business. “Otherwise it will consume you." A no holds barred answer within a no holds barred interview.
- On finding stability in times of great instability and uncertainty: “These last five years have been pretty extraordinary,” says Rechler. “And it feels like every time you think things are calming down and you're finding some solid footing, something starts shifting along the way.” The trick, he reveals, is not to look to the past for strategic inspiration but instead to focus on a completely new way of working and leading to suit the current, ever-evolving global landscape. It is a journey from “the old world to the new normal,” he adds.
- The power of a plan: Blazing a trail and adopting a new approach to business and leadership shouldn’t be attempted without a plan in place. “How I deal with challenges as a leader is to have a plan and communicate it effectively…it’s very helpful, particularly in periods like right now where there is not much clarity and when the world is changing.”
- Keep moving: No matter the circumstances, movement is key - even if it means ending up in a different place than where you were expecting. “If you keep moving forward and keep pushing, you ultimately will achieve your objective,” says Rechler. “It may not look exactly as you thought it was going to look… but you'll get there if you keep pushing forward. Maintaining that sense of hope and perseverance is a key.”
