THE SCOOP
I had heard from many people that Dan is just about the nicest guy in the CRE tech and brokerage sectors. And within a minute of meeting him I knew why. Dan has a big job at Colliers International managing operations for the global brokerage firm and he is really passionate about all things commercial real estate tech. He has been a huge supporter of our event platform,CREtech.com and continually provides us with insights, advice and support for our events. One of the things we spoke about that was really interesting to me is the approach that Colliers is taking as it relates to tech.
My takeaways…
- Colliers core strategy of “backbone integration” (as Dan describes it) focuses on several tech and communications tools that can seamlessly be integrated to enhance the productivity of their real estate professionals.
- Collier’s philosophy as a company is that adoption should come from the bottom up as opposed to the top down.
- The main takeaway for me was that Colliers is very focused on getting each of their professionals to have the “want, desire and interest” to embrace tech as an efficiency tool for their own business. More of an organic adoption.
- Lastly, the concept of “gamification” was something I don’t think I have heard of before in CRE tech land but Dan and his team believe strongly in making tech adoption fun and a bit of a contest internally. Really cool stuff and Dan is someone that everyone in CRE tech should get to know (sorry Dan :).
