British Land, Landsec U+I and Olympia Executives Confirmed to Join CREtech London’s Urban Regeneration Panel Session

CREtech London Meet the Urban Players

New York, NY (December 12, 2023)CREtech, the leading global technology and sustainability conference company devoted to Reimagining the Built World, announced that industry executives from British Land, Landsec U+I, and Olympia will join CREtech London’s keynote stage in a panel session titled, “Meet the Urban Power Players” at Magazine London on 8th-9th May 2024. 

CREtech has secured three of the UK’s best known names in regeneration and urban planning behind the large scale projects demonstrating the power of innovation in real terms to join their speaker lineup including: Roger Madelin CBE, Joint Head of Canada Water, British Land, the man behind the 53 acres of reimagined space in the heart of the UK capital expected to deliver a development value of £5.6bn; Martyn Evans, Creative Director, Landsec U+I, the creative brain behind the £2bn, 24 acre Mayfield regeneration project in Manchester; and Linda Chandler, a former Microsoft executive who is the new Chief Digital Officer behind the £1 billion regeneration project of Olympia, London’s newest creative district. 

Roger Madelin CBE, Joint Head of Canada Water, British Land joined British Land and was appointed to the Executive Committee in February 2016 after 29 years at Argent, where as Development Director/CEO he secured and led major projects in Manchester, Birmingham, the Thames Valley, the City of London and the 58 acre King’s Cross Development. He was awarded CBE for Services to Sustainable Development in 2006. Currently, Roger is jointly leading the development of Canada Water, a 53 acre development project in Central London.

Martyn Evans, Creative Director, Landsec U+I spent 17 years with Cathedral Group, now U+I, including six years on the board before leaving to become the Development Director at the 1,200-acre Dartington Hall Estate in Devon in 2016. He returned to U+I in 2019 to deliver the creative strategy at the heart of its multi-, purpose-driven regeneration development portfolio including major regeneration schemes in London, Glasgow, Brighton, Cardiff and Cambridge and was part of the team that completed the sale of the company to Landsec in December 2021. Martyn is Chair of the London Festival of Architecture and founder of The Young Architects and Developers Alliance (YADA), a networking organisation that fuels partnership and understanding between young architects and developers. Additionally, Martyn has been a jury member of the AJ's Small Projects, The Architect of the Year, the NLA and the Estates Gazette Awards, writes a regular column in BDOnline and contributes to the Estates Gazette.

Linda Chandler, Chief Digital Officer, Olympia, brings her wealth of technology experience to advance the built environment and position Future Olympia as the most globally connected and human-centric organisation. With an impressive career spanning over 30 years, Linda served a total of 12 years at Microsoft, where she most recently held the position of Industry Advisor for Smart Places at Microsoft UK. Linda was a returner to the company, having been the Smart Cities Lead for Microsoft Services in both the UK and APAC for 10 years. In between her Microsoft roles, Linda was an independent smart cities advisor, working on a portfolio of projects across the pillars of built environment, energy and mobility. Linda has experienced many facets of the technology industry over the span of her career, having worked for systems integrators, large independent software vendors, an analyst firm and a number of start-ups. Additionally, Linda is also a Trustee at BRE Trust, a member of the Design Council Expert network, a RSA Fellow and a Member of the IET. She also sits on the LandAid Tech Network Steering Group.
