CREtech, the largest international community of professionals devoted to technological innovation in the real estate sector, has opened registration for their first webinar in a quarterly series of webinars ‘CREtech: What’s next?’ planned for 2022. The webinars will bring together a collection of well-versed industry experts who will share insights on major themes in the real estate tech industry.

The first webinar to kick off the series, Developing in the Metaverse: Virtual Real Estate and the Blockchain, will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 11 am - 12 pm EST via Zoom. Moderated by Ryan Freedman, General Partner, Alpaca VC, leaders from Jamestown, Republic Realm, Sandbox and Pags Group will join to discuss how virtual real estate, AR/VR, and blockchain gaming will mold the future of the metaverse and Web3, and what prospective users, developers, and investors need to know.

Digital platforms are beginning to emerge as key gateways to the metaverse, with a corresponding virtual land grab to claim ownership on these platforms. Currently, virtual real estate investments can bear many similarities to physical real estate, with the ability to fractionalize parcels or  “develop” income-generating components such as shops or event spaces. In the long term, the ability to create true value through digital land and the ability to sustain a digital labor economy will be crucial for these platforms to endure.
